For The Weekend

WEEKEND READING

photo quiet_zpsf594179e.jpgQuiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain

I'm reading this book for the Nerdy Non-Fiction Challenge. I would consider myself an introvert. I can be an extrovert (and sometimes I do enjoy it) but it doesn't come easy. Many times in the past I've been made to feel like there's something wrong with me for wanting my own time away from others or for being the person who would rather listen than talk. I'm curious to see what Susan Cain has to say about introverts.

AN AWESOME BLOG FOR YOUR WEEKEND

Book Den is written by Jennifer. She typically reads and reviews "speculative fiction that contains elements of dark fantasy." That line right there is what hooked me to her blog in the first place. I'm drawn to dark fantasy as well and I wanted to see what she was recommending. She also writes about younger fiction, particularly what she's reading with her kids, which I think is fun to see.

Be sure to check out her recent review of Eve Shallows and the Book of Shrieks!

  1. I'm definitely an introvert and it would be interesting to hear what the author says. :)

    1. Yep, I'm secretly hoping that the verdict is that introvert will one day rule the world, haha. Not really, but I would like a little validation that it's not bad to be introverted. :)

  2. I've been curious about this book too, and I consider myself an introvert too - although I'm very comfortable being an extrovert as well, but my preference - I love me time - quiet time.

    1. Me too. Sometimes I get a craving for company and I like to go to dinner with friends or something, but mostly I love my time at home when I'm the only one there and it's quiet.

    1. I'm really liking it. I was worried it would read too much like a textbook but I've been 'entertained' so far. I can tell it's going to lead to lots of great discussions on the topic.

  5. Quiet has been on my to-read list for some time and I was thinking of picking it for my family's book club, since my parents, husband and I are all introverts. :)

    1. It's been so interesting and I've had a lot of 'a-ha' moments and lots of parts where I've been shaking my head in agreement. I'm not sure how it will conclude, but I like it so far.
