So here's what's on my ebook waitlists right now- hoping they get approved soon!
Liar & Spy by Rebecca SteadI hoe hummed about getting around to reading this one. There had been some buzz about it last year, which peaked my curiosity, but not enough for me to make time for this one yet. I happened to see it on the ebook list as I was clicking around randomly and added myself to the waiting list. I thought, "Why not." I mean it's less than 200 pages and several parents and kids have asked about it at the library. I should be able to buzz right through it and then feel qualified to recommend it at work. Have you read it? Any thoughts?
Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day GeorgeAnother book I randomly came across while perusing the ebook selections. I did my usual and clicked over to Goodreads to see the synopsis. "Rose is one of 12 princesses condemned to dance every night for the King Under the Stone." I immediately thought of 12 dancing princesses and I was right. This is a play off of it. Rose must find a way to break the curse and avoid the wrath of the King Under the Stone. Since I just finished Cinder which was a play off of Cinderella, I couldn't resist this one. It sounds like an adventurous take on the story and a fun read.
Splintered by A. G. HowardI can't remember where I first read about Splintered, but it was one of the first books I purposely searched for when looking for an ebook. First off, the cover is gorgeous- and green- my favorite color! And what do you know? This book is a twist on Alice in Wonderland! It's not the story, but more of a connection to Alice in Wonderland. Alyssa's ancestor is said to have been the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's Alice. However the real Wonderland is dark and twisted and Alyssa must fix Alice's mistakes in order to save her family. Sounds awesome, right?
Hmm... with those last two and Cinder from last month, I'm sensing a theme. Unintentional, but awesome. I can't wait to get these books and dive in.
Fairytale adaptations seem to be drawing me in at the moment.
Do you ever find yourself being drawn to and reading several similar books in succession?

I was using e-books from the library this summer until they weren't coming fast enough so I requested the actual books instead. Strangely enough we moved from a small town to a larger town this summer and the small town library had a larger variety of ebooks available. Since my card hasn't expired I may use that one, if I read all the other books I already have on my iPad to read!
ReplyDeleteLibrary waiting lists are the worst! It's better than having to go out and buy every book you want to read though!
